From the artist: “These threads are drawn from a molten pool of hot glass; they come in a candy store of colors. Much of what I make starts with “what if?” What if I embedded glass threads in a solid clear matrix? And then cut the glass in strips to expose the edges? And then laid the strips in patterns. Or pulled fanciful organisms from those threads and layered them in glass “ponds”….A glimpse of part of a sculpture in the Corning Museum sparked this one. The patterns in the Evidence series remind me of the results of gel electrophoresis of proteins. (I used to work as a medical lab technologist.)”

“Each piece of glass in Martin Kremer’s fused glass work becomes part of a larger story. I really enjoy hearing about the inspiration behind each piece; he brings wonderful stories to life in his expressive pieces.”

Martin Kremer: The Artist
For Martin Kremer, glass has been a medium of expression for more than 40 years. He started as a stained glass enthusiast while pursuing a career in medical technology. Glass eventually took over, evolving from a hobby to a spare-time business to a full-time obsession.
